Why does my system run very slow?

We have looked into the issue that you described, where the system slows down after a Windows update, and have found a way to fix it.

We have recently released an update that should fix this issue. Your Avira Product will be automatically updated, and you don’t have to do anything else in the product.

If you have uninstalled the incompatible Windows Update, you can now restore it using the Windows Update function.

Affected Windows Updates

  • Affected products
  • Avira Free Security Suite
  • Avira Prime
  • Avira Free Antivirus
  • Avira Antivirus Pro

Avira reps, can you please keep the changelog updated? It's been 2 or 3 versions now with no changelog update. Today's (15.0.45.1154) is especially important since it remedies the slowdown and freezing caused by the recent Windows Updates. And I know that 15.0.45.1126 also did not have any changelog. Please keep on top of this. Some of your users like to have this info and the changelog page is there for a reason. If it's not going to stay current, just take it down as it then serves zero point. I mean, it should be a quick 5 minute job for whoever maintains it after a new release is out. Thanks!

I redact a portion of my prior comment. 15.0.45.1154 did NOT fix the slow booting and random hard lock-ups.

Hey Avira. The issues have NOT been fixed. You released THREE updates thus far to remedy the situation and NONE of them fix the issues. It also is not, and has not been, merely slow boot times. It also causes random HARD lock-ups. where Ctrl+Alt+Del won't even function, forcing people to completely cut power to a running system. NOT good at all. Stop lying and fix it. For the record I am currently running Avira Free 15.0.45.1171 on Windows 10.

Avira Antivirus Pro customer here. Having the same problems as described. I'm on Avira ver 15.0.45.1171 on Windows 10. Hard lock-ups, system not usable during boot phase, which has stretched to 5 minutes or more on a pretty recent laptop with SSD (used to be booted and ready in seconds). Had to uninstall the Windows 10 update KB4493509 and manually hide the update using Microsoft's utility. It's been quite a few days now, in the meantime I have had to hide the update on all my affected Win10 machines. Very little information out there released by either Avira or Microsoft, would be good to have a definitive update and more info about this.
